Help with installing leaf spring on Frank B. Stilleto

Postby falafal » Wed Mar 17, 2010 9:48 am

I just purchased a Frank B. stiletto from assisted knife and I can't figure out how to put the leaf spring in to make it full auto. The caption under the picture said Frank B. made it easy. ..just insert the leaf spring and connect the sex pin. I've opened the knife blade and I can't get it to release to fold the blade back down. The videos with the stiletto show taking your thumb and pulled back toward you on the head and this releases the blade so you can fold it down. Mine the head doesn't rotate enough to free the blade. If there is something wrong with the knife I'd like to know so I can send it back and get another one. If it is something that I am doing wrong, let me know. I called before I bought the knife and was told by JB that this was not a comb kit. You just insert the leaf spring and secure with the sex pin and your done. I just emailed him two days ago about the problem and was told..."Yeah. Open it up put the spring in while open and then put the pin in and close it. Pretty simple." Can anyone help me.

Thanks,

Brian

Did you install the leaf spring or not? You did not ask me about closing it, I do have all the information on how to close it.

The top face bolster slides and pushes the lock away from the blade and then you can close it, it does take two hands, there are plenty of videos on this.

The items I check before I ship to make sure they work before I ship them, there was nothing wrong with the item other than just simply user error and not knowing how it works.

Explaining things with words does not work for alot of people but there is ample amounts of information on how to close the stiletto.

I was able to close it. I guess pushing and pushing on the bolster worked it loose. I've put the leaf spring in the slot at the bottom of the knife like you told me in your email. Now I have to figure out how to install the pin.

I put the spring in and the pin and it works great. I have to take a file and file some of the leaf spring to get the pin to go through the whole. You have to put the pin in the lanyard hole and put the pin cap on the other end. It was simple once you get it.
